Durban
Video has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember, even when I didn't realise it yet.
It started at home in Durban, South Africa as a kid filming short videos in my bedroom, using the pause button to seemingly teleport through walls and doors. Then came Pivot Stick Animator, where I spent hours crafting elaborate fight scenes between stick figures, including one where a basketball replaced a stick figure's head and the fight ended with someone being dunked into the hoop. The storytelling instinct was always there; it just took a while to find the right medium.
That medium turned out to be the ocean and nature. Learning to surf got me over my fear of it, and once I was in, I was in completely. What started as learning to read waves turned into a much deeper connection, and a few years later I bought a cheap knockoff action camera for about R400 and started filming it.

Cape Town
Moving to Cape Town was its own shift. That's where the cheap knockoff camera got replaced by a real GoPro, my edits got better, and I started a POV surf account that was pulling in over 1.5 million monthly impressions.
But Cape Town also shifted something else. In Durban, there was a fear of sharks (nets, common talk of horror stories, the media's portrayal of sharks, and a general unease that seemed hard to shake). Before they disappeared, Cape Town had Great Whites, but the culture around them was completely different. There was a greater focus on conservation that made me curious. I started learning more about sharks, ocean ecosystems, and why all of it matters. That curiosity turned into something deeper, and my connection to the ocean grew even stronger.

EXPANDING
From there the world kept expanding. I started freediving, kiteboarding, different styles of surfing, and cliff jumping. I got more camera gear, did more experiments, and spent a lot more time figuring out what makes a piece of footage truly worth remembering. I've created content with brands including Ocean & Earth, The Shack Llandudno, big GoPro-sponsored content creators, and independent athletes across kitesurfing, Hyrox, and more.
A background in content strategy and copywriting means I also think about brand voice and audience as naturally as I think about a shot, which makes my work intentional.
I'm still constantly experimenting with transitions and effects today; just like I did with the pause button, in my bedroom, as a kid… Now I just get to do it in better locations.
